The BriskGO-Motor Neurone Disease Fundraiser
After losing a very good friend earlier this year to an aggressive form of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), BriskGO contacted the Motor Neurone Disease Research Institute of Australia (MNDRIA).
It means a lot to us that this fundraiser is approved by MNDRIA.
We hope this Fundraiser opportunity will help raise awareness about this terrible disease, as well as raise funds to find a cure. And let you go on holiday in the process!

What is MND?
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases that lead to the degeneration of nerve cells (neurones) that control the essential muscles we need to move, speak, breathe and swallow.
MND can strike anyone, often out of the blue. Every day, two Australians are diagnosed with MND and, once diagnosed, the average time they remain alive is 2.5 years.
When MND strikes, neurones begin to degenerate. With no nerves to activate the muscles that are essential for us to live, these muscles gradually weaken and waste. Therefore, MND means it becomes increasingly difficult for someone to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The cruelty of the disease is that they typically remain fully aware, while their body fails them. Perhaps one of the most famous - and inspirational - victims of MND is Stephen Hawking.

Motor Neurone Disease Research Institute of Australia (MNDRIA) is the research arm of MND Australia.
MNDRIA was established in 1984 as a national organisation promoting medical and scientific research into MND. The organisation seeks to understand the cause of MND, which remains unknown, as well as to find effective treatments and, ultimately, find a cure for MND.
